Sugar Land Community Revitalized

Sam Rubbico had no idea that he would 14 years later play a key role in revitalizing the community when he moved to Quail Valley East in the Sugar Land, Tx area.
Rubbico, a resident of a community once thought of as one of the premiere master-planned subdivisions in the county, could see evidence of years of decline.
Rubbico, a recently-elected treasurer of the Quail Valley East Community Association, and board members gained the support of area residents in approving a $200,000 special assessment in September 2009 that will allow changes to start.
In addition to a number of other community upgrades, funds from the special assessment will allow the association to make improvements to a pool that has become a community eyesore in recent years.
Community association members are scheduled to host an Opening Splash Day on May 29 at 2:00 p.m., located at 2505 Valley Forest Drive, to showcase improvements.
A mini-splash pad that will be installed at the community club house will be one of the highlights of the revitalization project.
Fort Bend County Precinct 2 Commissioner Grady Prestage and Missouri City Mayor Allen Owen are set to be present at the special ribbon-cutting ceremony.
In order to repair the community’s two pools, resurface two tennis courts, add a monument sign on a community esplanade near one of the community entryways, among other improvements, the community accepted a $110,000 bid from ALB Renovations of Sugar Land.
Recently, board members were given a monetary donation from Quail Valley Proud to build a community playground.
Rubbico was a part of an instrumental role in re-establishing relationships with the Missouri City Police Department and Quail Valley Proud.
Also, the board was given the thumbs up for their efforts from an outside supporter, who contributed $400 to the project.
By the end of the year, Rubbico and other board members look to collect nearly $200,000 in community association fees.
